Agency Honored with Outstanding Community Partner Award
Berea Children’s Home and Family Services is the recipient of Baldwin Wallace’s 2009 Outstanding Community Partner Award. This award reflects the agency’s dedicated partnership with the Office of Community Outreach and their efforts to provide quality service learning opportunities to Baldwin Wallace students. Baldwin Wallace has been gracious to award the agency with this distinction.

Baldwin Wallace College’s Service-Learning Program combines classroom study with an experiential component to provide students with the opportunity to learn and grow in the world outside of the classroom. The students have the opportunity to serve in the community through a variety of hands-on experiences that are integrated into their course curriculum.

Dr. Lori Long, Associate Professor of Business Administration, teamed up with Debbie Mueller, Assistant Director of Human Resources at Berea Children’s Home and Family Services, to give her students the opportunity to learn about human resource development through practical experience. Students worked alongside human resource professionals at the agency to expand their knowledge and critical thinking skills.

Berea Children’s Home and Family Services is pleased to give Baldwin Wallace students the opportunity to invest in their community and prepare for adulthood through hands-on learning. The agency is grateful to be a part of the Baldwin Wallace curriculum and partner with the Service-Learning Program.
