Berea Children’s Home and Family Services Staff Donate 263 Holiday Food Boxes
Staff members from Berea Children’s Home and Family Services generously pitched in to provide Thanksgiving meals for 263 of the agency’s clients and families who would not otherwise have the means to afford a Thanksgiving dinner.

The Thanksgiving food boxes were made possible entirely by the agency’s staff who contributed enough resources and funds to make up 263 boxes. Along with the Thanksgiving food box donations, 100 additional turkeys and gift cards; employees donated $9,054.75 of their own funds.

Each holiday food box is filled with one 14-16 pound turkey with cooking instructions, a five-pound bag of potatoes, butter, stuffing mix, corn, beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, cornbread mix and cake mix and frosting for dessert.

The recipients of the boxes, clients of Berea Children’s Home and Family Services, were selected by staff members, based on need, to receive a Thanksgiving food box. Alex Petrus, Vice President of Advancement, said, “The staff of Berea Children’s Home and Family Services were tremendous in generously responding to the needs of our families this Thanksgiving. It shows how our staff are always willing to go the extra mile for the children and families we serve. Our staff not only provided the resources, they lovingly put together each food box and then hand delivered them to each family. I am proud to work with such caring people and for a great organization.”

Berea Children’s Home and Family Services staff members delivered the Thanksgiving food boxes to the homes of many very grateful clients on Monday, November 23, 2009.
